Vista Tree’s fertilizer service helps promote healthy growth in your trees for the next growing season. Fertilizer is an affordable way to maintain tree and shrub health on an ongoing basis.
Signing on for our 2023 service gets you booked for spring and fall fertilizer treatments. We can also book you for only one season; clients booking for two 2023 treatments will receive a discount.
Our organic, natural fertilizer is made especially for Toronto trees. We’re working with Crooked Farmz, a local microfarm in the East York area, to provide high-quality compost tea fertilizing specially blended for us to support tree and hedge growth.
Crooked Farmz works with small-batch composts and vermicomposts. If you’ve seen Crooked Farmz at a local farmers’ market, you may know their regular compost tea blends are designed for gardeners and abundance in flower or vegetable gardens, but we use a blend formulated for trees and shrubs. We’re thrilled to work with another east Toronto small business!
Our Toronto fertilizer service is appropriate for all types of trees and for woody shrubs (such as boxwood, yew, cedar, viburnum, dogwood). We service locations through Toronto and the GTA.
City soil can be hard on trees. In the wild, nutrients in soil are constantly replenished through decaying leaves and plants. Without this supply of nutrients, over time trees can become discoloured, grow slower or face increased stress. Grass or other plants growing under trees often do poorly because the tree uses up most available nutrients in the soil.
Regular tree fertilizer restores nutrients, promoting healthy growth. Fertilizing can make your trees greener and promote recovery from pests or other recent damage. We especially recommend it for trees and shrubs that suffered pest damage over the 2022 season.
For more complex situations, we offer soil testing and can add amendments to fertilizer to optimize for your yard’s health.
The Crooked Farmz Arboriculture Blend is a compost tea created specifically to offer improved probiotic health for trees in domestic and production settings. It is designed to maximize both the microbial biodiversity available from the compost and the fungal/bacterial ratio of the tea. Each of these are required by trees for optimum nutrient cycling and natural immunity. With a mix of extracting and brewing approaches used, this compost tea is suitable for soil, roots, and foliage, making it an important component of holistic tree care programs.

When you request service from our fertilizer company, we’ll assess your property based on the property size. All trees and shrubs on a property are included in the package price. We use a service called Groundwork that lets you get a fast quote from us by taking a video of your property with your phone (don’t worry, you don’t need to download anything, and if you can take videos of your coworker dancing wildly at the holiday party, you can use it!).
When you request service, we’ll come assess your site or sites with a visit. Pricing is based on property size. For straightforward situations, like rental properties, condo buildings, and other properties where all areas of vegetation are tended, we recommend fertilizing all trees and shrubs. For properties with a more complex situation, like a campus or rural property that may include wooded areas, we can work out a custom plan based on your needs.
For straightforward situations and smaller properties, we can provide a faster quote using service called Groundwork that lets you get a fast quote from us by taking a video of your property with your phone (don’t worry, you don’t need to download anything, and if you can take videos of your grandkids or your lunch, you can use it!).
After temperatures begin to warm in spring, we’ll visit for spring fertilizing of your trees in April and early May. We’ll aim to provide an approximate timeframe, but exact service dates will vary based on weather, location, and property size. We will leave a notice that service has been completed or can meet with an on-site manager.
Once the weather cools in October and November, we’ll visit again for fall fertilizing.
If we will need access through a secure area, please discuss this at time of booking.
Please use our online booking form and write in “Fertilizer” for service and we’ll plan your virtual or in-person assessment!
We look forward to servicing your trees and shrubs this year!
Let Vista Tree help you enjoy and share it.
Every homeowner in Toronto has a responsibility to ensure that trees are maintained and safe to prevent injury or damage to property. This means that trees should be inspected regularly, with tree reports provided by a trained arborist.
Unfortunately trees can suffer from a range of diseases, pests and stresses that can impact their health and vitality over time. Often what can look like a healthy tree can actually be a safety hazard, while sometimes trees that look rather ugly may be in fine health — just not particularly attractive.

Beware tree hazards during the storm! We are taking emergency calls already. This tree broke at the trunk this morning on to the homeowners bedroom, it’s about 24in diameter at the break and 40ft long over two houses. Do not approach fallen trees or trees on wires, call a professional arborist for everyone’s safety. You can reach us for emergency calls at 416-624-0770 or 416-757-0505.

Some tight rigging on this spreading multi-stem oak! Extensive dieback throughout the canopy unfortunately condemned this tree in a cluster of dozens of oaks in Etobicoke.

Fallen tree on a house and another set to fail at any moment. We were down by the lakeshore today plucking this tree off the roof and removing the other beside it - both stone dead ash. #treeremoval #hazard #toronto #mississauga #stormdamage #arbirist #treecare
